My Favourite Photo Spots in Munich
From the English Garden to the old town: places I love coming back to.

Munich is a wonderful city for photography: lots of green, lots of water, beautiful architecture and surprisingly quiet corners – if you know where to look. Here are five places I love returning to with my clients.
1. The English Garden
A classic – and for good reason. Away from the Monopteros and the Chinese Tower there are wide meadows, old trees and little streams. Especially in autumn, when the leaves turn golden, the quieter northern part of the park is a dream for family and couple photos.

2. The Hofgarten
Right in the city centre and yet surprisingly calm: gravel paths, arcades and the small pavilion in the middle give portraits an elegant, almost Mediterranean setting. It's at its most beautiful early in the morning, before the first walkers arrive.
3. The Isar at Flaucher
Gravel banks, shallow water and a wide sky – a session by the Isar feels almost like a little day trip. Children can throw stones, couples can walk barefoot through the water. In summer it's best in the evening, when the sun is low over the river.
4. Nymphenburg Palace Park
Long avenues, canals and the palace as a backdrop: Nymphenburg is made for elegant couple and wedding photos. Because the park is so big, you can find quiet spots even on sunny days.
5. Olympiaberg at sunset
The Olympiaberg offers a wide view over the city – on clear days all the way to the Alps. At sunset it's the place for atmospheric silhouettes and warm, open pictures.
The best place is the one where you feel at home – I'll take care of the light.
Good to know
- Early mornings and evenings bring the most beautiful light and the quietest locations.
- Professional shoots in the state-run parks such as the English Garden, the Hofgarten or Nymphenburg may need a photo permit from the Bavarian Palace Administration. I take care of that.
- If it rains, we move to covered spots – or simply make the weather part of the story.
